The IB Association of Japan (IBAJ) is comprised of schools in Japan that are authorized to offer one or more of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes (i.e. IB World Schools), and schools that are in the process of becoming authorized (i.e. candidate schools).
The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) is a non-profit foundation that offers four educational programmes to schools around the world: the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students from ages 3 to 11, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for students from ages 12 to 16, and the Diploma Programme (DP) and Career-related Programme (CP) for students from ages 17 to 18.
Purpose
The purpose of the IB Association of Japan is to support the IB, and work towards the general improvement of IB schools in Japan, by providing a network of professional support, information and service. The association supports the IB by providing opportunities for the staff and students of its member schools to interact with each other.
IB World Schools in Japan
There are currently 111 IB World Schools in Japan, with many new schools becoming authorized within the past eight years.
